When customers come to the company to purchase membrane switches, they often need to confirm through samples, which are important basis for quality control of membrane switches and communication with customers. Sampling is a process that connects pre-press manufacturing with printing, allowing users to foresee the effect of membrane switches before mass production. It can provide specifications for the entire flexible membrane switch production process and ensure the improvement of membrane switch quality. There are generally two methods for sampling membrane switches, namely soft sampling and traditional sampling. So what are the characteristics of these two sampling methods?


Two meanings of membrane switches

  • Layer and insulation layer of membrane switches: The layer and insulation layer of membrane switch products are used to bond, insulate, and isolate the circuit layer. The resistance and rebound force of the selected adhesive need to reach a certain constant punching value.


  • Selection of common layer and insulation layer: Membrane switches have a wide range of applications and may encounter relatively harsh environments, which puts forward requirements for the selection of adhesives. In the early stage of planning, it is necessary to understand the customer's application and conduct corresponding tests for preliminary verification.


Circuit layer of membrane switches

The circuit layer of flexible membrane switches produced by flexible membrane switch manufacturers is made by screen printing conductive silver ink on non-conductive polyester materials. The representative polyester material has high performance and strong heat stability. The exposed circuit of the membrane switch needs to have a carbon coating as additional protection. When necessary, the circuit also needs to be insulated by bridging with UV insulation oil silk between two sets of interlaced circuits. In order to prevent the oxidation of the circuit and the dropping of conductive silver, UV insulation oil is required for protection.


Sampling methods for membrane switches

  • Soft sampling: Soft sampling is the most convenient, fastest, and cheapest method of sampling membrane switches, which is done on the computer and can be completed on a color display. The accuracy of the color display needs to be high and requires correct calibration. The soft sampling method sends the image file to WeChat or email for verification and confirmation. The accuracy of colors depends on the performance and calibration of the display, and metallic colors cannot be accurately represented, which cannot provide reference for subsequent production processes of membrane switches.


  • Traditional sampling: Requires outputting film films and manufacturing screen plates, and then completing the sampling on a screen printer. The manufacturing skills of the sample version and the production version in traditional sampling are the same. The same file data is used for sampling and production, and potential problems such as moiré patterns, color, and font images can be discovered through sampling.
